Becoming Santa

Bakehouse has a very special relationship with Santa Claus.  We do our best to help him at the busiest time of the year.  There are many magical things Santa can do: such as getting reindeer to fly around the world on the wings of children’s dreams; and of course being so old that he can remember you Mums, Dads, Grandparents and Great-grandparents as little children, just as clearly as he knows the little boy or girl standing before him.

But the one thing he cannot do is to be in more than one place at the same time.  This is a real problem when everyone wants to see him in the busy weeks before Christmas.

This is where we come in to help (Did you know Santa can abseil?).

Abseiling Santa

With Santa’s full permission, we find people to pretend to be him, wherever children queue up to see him.   Santa is so grateful for our help that he often comes to visit us quietly to see how things are going, and sometimes he even takes over and sits in the grotto himself. You may never know when you come to visit a Bakehouse Christmas event, whether you are talking to one of our “Santa’s Helpers” or the real Santa himself.

Santa

A message from Father Christmas to his body doubles:

‘If any actor is reading this, please be in no doubt that properly done, this is significant and gruelling work that, if embarked on with love and conviction, brings great rewards.  It earns no fame or critical acclaim, but be assured that in terms of human worth, and children’s memories, it is every bit as vocational and important as work in the finest theatres in the land. Training your physique is as important as learning your lines so please do start on the mince pies in September. Thank you for making the magic happen!”
