Design Development & Technical Design
We take concepts beyond the page, translating ideas into detailed designs that can be built and installed. Developing detailed technical (CAD) plans, scaled 3D models, digital renders, site plans and technical workshops, we refine every element to ensure it is as practical as it is imaginative.
Costume Design & Creation
Our team creates rich, unique characters that audiences can connect with through expertly crafted costumes that capture every detail. From initial characterisation and style development to the intricate work of pattern cutting, mask making, and bespoke detailing, we ensure each piece is characterful and high quality. We carefully source materials and accessories to enhance authenticity, while providing full wardrobe management to keep every costume in top condition throughout a production or activation.
Graphic Design
We create striking visuals for both digital and print. Our team handles digital creation, layered production print graphics and full print file creation to ensure every detail is ready for production. We design everything from large-scale graphic wraps and floor vinyls to smaller-scale graphics and booklets and deliver cohesive solutions that support marketing, wayfinding, IP brand guidelines and the wider event theming.
Light & Sound Design

Performance
Live performance sits at the heart of many of our events; spanning large-scale spectacles, roaming character work, and interactive storytelling. Performer Casting & Managing
We work with a curated network of hundreds of professional, Equity card-holding actors, musicians, dancers, and specialist performers across the UK. Every performer is auditioned by us to ensure they meet Bakehouse’s standards, guaranteeing quality and consistency for every event. Our performers are masters of engagement, improvisation and atmosphere creation. Our dedicated performance department manages everything from casting and scheduling, to logistics and coordination, ensuring seamless delivery and enabling performers to focus on creating powerful, memorable experiences. Scripting & Character Creation
Our scripts and characters invite audiences to step inside the story and become part of the action. All content is developed in-house, drawing on years of experience writing original stories and building distinctive characters. We are experts at integrating client narratives, reimagining local stories and legends, and adapting licensed IP for live experience including everything from choreographed musicals and shows to bespoke character encounters written just for you.
Direction & Choreography
We specialise in all forms of performance from fully staged productions to interactive, audience-led storytelling and roaming interactions. Our accomplished directors and choreographers specialise in training performers for this distinctive form of live work where structure and spontaneity coexists. We shape each performance from pre-event rehearsals to on-site live direction and ensure every moment feels fluid, seamless and engaging.
Production & Fabrication
We design and build striking environments and installations that combine creative ambition with robust construction and long-term durability. Within our Bristol-based workshop, ideas are developed through craft, technical precision and deep material understanding, ensuring every element is engineered for reliable performance in real-world public settings.
Carpentry & Metalwork
We build precise structures and sets, designed for both form and function. Cabinet making, joinery and turning sit alongside large-scale set builds and sculptural work, all crafted with accuracy and care. Our woodworkers and metalworkers produce everything from natural roundwood installations and chainsaw carvings to welded steel box construction, aluminium and stainless-steel fabrications. Structural frameworks, timbre clad metal builds and engineered components are developed to support both static and interactive elements. All work is built for durability in public environments, with integrated mechanisms and robust construction methods that ensure reliability, safety and long-term use.
Scenic Artwork
Drawing on in-house specialist expertise in theatre and scenic design, our team produces scenic artwork for backdrops and surface finishes, using painted detail and layered textures to build depth and character. Faux finishes, ageing and distressing techniques are used to achieve the desired look. Each finish is developed to sit consistently within the wider scheme.
Paint & Finishing
Our skilled scenic painters work across a wide range of materials, including wood, metal, plastic and composite surfaces. Expert colour matching, large-scale finishing and professional spray booth application ensure a consistent, high-quality result across projects of every scale. Our purpose-built spray booth allows us to efficiently handle larger installations and higher volumes of work, while hard coating and weatherproof treatments are applied where required to deliver durable finishes for long-term use.
Polycarving & Sculpting
We have the in-house capabilities for detailed sculptural work across polystyrene, foam, timber and composite materials. Through carving, casting and moulding, forms are shaped with precision and a hands-on understanding of material behaviour.
Coating systems, including resins, hard coats and fire-retardant finishes, are used to achieve the right finish, with realistic textures such as rock, bark, metal and concrete developed to create convincing, high-quality results.
Puppetry & Props
Our props and puppets are beautifully designed, and hand crafted with movement, interaction and reliability in mind. We design and build mechanised costumes as well as interactive puppets to sit alongside performance and provide automated animatronic puppetry for public led interactions. Each element is engineered to perform consistently and repeatedly within a live environment.
Set & Props Warehouse
At Bakehouse HQ, we hold a large collection of fabricated sets and props, all maintained to a consistently high standard and ready for hire across a wide range of projects and themes. This includes resin animals, furniture, flowers, plants and foliage, signage, and alongside essential event infrastructure such as pipe and drape, fencing, seating, lighting and technical elements. This allows us to support projects quickly and efficiently, offering both creative flexibility and practical solutions at scale.

Project & Management
Our skilled team of project managers act as a consistent, single point of contact from the moment a project is signed off, through to build and delivery. Every project is assigned a dedicated project manager carefully matched to the requirements of the work, from small-scale activations through to large public events.
They coordinate all elements of delivery, ensuring clear communication, stakeholder alignment, and a high standard of client service at every stage. Following completion, they capture key learnings and insights to inform future projects, supporting continuous refinement and improvement across our work.
Installation
We deliver, install and de rig all of our events. Our experienced install crews deliver safe and efficient installations of every project. Skilled in handling small scale portable sets to large-scale and bespoke structures, they coordinate closely with our production teams to assemble, rig, and manage installations to the highest standards including tech set ups and lighting. Every project is carefully planned and supervised, with full RAMS in place to ensure safety, compliance, and precision even on the most complex technical projects from set-up to de-rig and guarantee the process is smooth, on time, and exactly as envisioned.
Event Management
We offer full event management services, bringing every element together, managing stakeholders, coordinating performers, technical teams, and on-site operations. Working across high-footfall public events and complex live environments, our event managers maintain full operational control, overseeing multiple moving parts to ensure a smooth delivery on the day and allowing the experience to unfold exactly as intended from start to finish.
