Our story

We’ve come a long way in nine years; from the original Bakehouse kitchen table to a multi-award winning theatrical production company specialising in delivering immersive and interactive events. From our large multi-disciplinary HQ in Bristol, our skilled team of client, logistics, production and design managers cook up a range of magical theatrical experiences for both UK and international clients. Over the years we have secured access to all of the ingredients we need to create unexpected moments of pop-up joy. We rise to every new challenge and collaboration and as a result our business is thriving.

Last year alone over 300,000 people took part in over 500 Bakehouse shows in 40+ towns and cities across the UK and beyond, showcasing our work to millions.

What we believe

Our mission is to create unexpected moments of delight and wonder, delivering meaningful connections between performers and audiences. We bring people together through story and play in new environments, making memories and engaging imaginations. We work with a variety of clients including brands, retailers, public sector and cultural organisations, with a wide variety of audiences, often people who don’t engage with traditional theatre. We are a company that great performers and makers want to work with. We deliver to campaign objectives, always with some added Bakehouse magic, leaving audiences, and clients, feeling positive.

Meet the bakers

We have a network of hundreds of skilled craftsmen, performers, puppeteers, costumiers and event managers, that help us to deliver delightful off-the-shelf events and bespoke creations. Who we work with

From our side, we loved the event and I think this is our best Toy Testing event yet! We have had such lovely feedback and everyone really enjoyed the event. Also HUGE thank you to your wonderful team of elves. They were completely amazing and I think they really made the event for the children!

- Rebecca Keefe, Marketing Manager, Queensgate

We have been working with Bakehouse and their multi-talented performers on a number of projects for the past three years and have always been delighted with the depth of characterisation, talent and commitment that they have brought to everything we have asked them to do.

- Adam Blackwood, Founder and Creative Director, Private Drama

We’ve enjoyed working with the team at Bakehouse, they’ve added something really special to Colston Hall’s 150th Anniversary year. Family audiences loved the Dino School, Chocolate Factory and Table of Terrors experiences and the immersive theatre backstage tours helped us to tell our story in a unique and memorable way!

- Sarah Robertson, Communications and Special Projects Director, Colston Hall

The 'LOL Surprise' Wardrobe looks incredible! We really love it and think it will look amazing on camera. Thank you so much for your hard work turning it around in such a short time!

- Rebecca Parsons, Account Director, Carousel PR

The Bakehouse team always deliver exceptional events on site at Broughton. The team are always incredibly professional and the public love them! Even retailers commented this year on how great it was to see such fantastic interactive events which are so relevant with what's going on in the world at present in terms of sustainability, well-being, nature and the eco-system. We look forward to working with you all again in the future!
