Bakehouse Summer Roundup

In spite of the sometimes hit and miss summer weather, nothing has dampened our spirits here at Bakehouse!

Since we moved into our new HQ in June, we have not stopped! This summer has seen our busiest season yet in the new workshop, creating and carving wonderous props, sets and costumes for events around the country. Some of which have finished now, some are only just beginning… more on that later!

Over the last few months, we’ve celebrated a 30th birthday with Clarks Village, honoured Pride month with fabulously colourful events, skated in Reading and Manchester and spent our third summer running nature walks at Rushden Lakes. All of our events have been facilitated by our amazing performers who help to create interactive and fun experiences for all.

Here are a few of our summer highlights…

Rollerland
Taking place at the Oracle, Reading, the Rollerland skating rink transformed a large empty retail unit into something very special. Each skate session was busy and the ticketed event even earned some revenue to contribute to the running costs, providing a kickback against the client investment. More than just skating, our performer-lead event ensures visitors also enjoyed time in the themed chill-out lounge and taking selfies before skating to some great tunes.

Summer Showtime
With our beloved elephant standing proud as the centrepiece, we helped Festival Place throw spectacular summer showtime performances, with our performers getting into the circus spirit.

StarWash Roller Disco
Disco tunes could be heard around the Orient in Trafford Centre, Manchester, as visitors took to the neon floor and skated to their hearts’ content. The StarWash DJ set the tone from their boombox decks, while glitter make up and a fun photo booth created disco vibes all around.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Trail
Eric Carle’s beloved story came to life at Bristol Zoo Project and Birdworld this summer with two magical trails that combined play with learning. Children climbed on giant 3D fruit, whooshed down the caterpillar slide and used  interactive QR codes to bring each stop on the trail to life.

Bee the Change
Communities came together in London and Cardiff to pledge their promise to help save the bees. This heartwarming event for LandSec not only raised awareness of an important environmental issue, but saw people of all ages get crafty to spread the message.

We also made a VERY exciting announcement this summer… about a very PINK project we’ve been working on behind the scenes. It’s so pink in fact, that it’s taken over our entire spray painting booth!

Have you guessed it?

It’s of course… BARBIE! It’s been the talk of the summer and we couldn’t be happier to be involved with this project.

We are so thrilled that we can FINALLY share with the world that we have been working alongside the most exciting brand of the moment Barbie ® (Mattel,Inc.) designing and creating Barbie You Can Be Anything: The Experience, opening at Meadowhall, Sheffield 30th September!
