Install: Gromit Unleashed @ The Mall, Cribbs Causeway

As we emerged from round one of lockdown, the Bakehouse team were delighted to work with a very special local celebrity! Gromit, of Aardman Animations fame, has returned to Bristol for the latest instalment of Gromit Unleashed. Alongside his pals Wallace, Feathers McGraw and Shaun the Sheep, Gromit will take visitors on a globe-trotting adventure. The Mall’s mini-trail of Gromit sculptures designed by local artists will take transport shoppers all around the world, from the icy tundra to the ‘Wild Wild West’ whilst collecting vital donations for The Grand Appeal and supporting the wonderful ongoing work of Bristol Children’s Hospital.

All Set for Gromit’s ‘Grand Day Out’

In preparation for the launch, our newly reunited teams designed, built and installed two bespoke sets to bring these distinctive parts of the world to Bristol. For ‘Ice Ice Puppy’ we built a frozen arctic stage to encase the existing fountain, complete with floating ice blocks and a dusting of sparkling artificial snow. Our second set followed an American western theme with Wallace as ‘Wensleydale Kid’ & Gromit appearing as ‘Blazing Saddles’. To create an ‘ace-high’ western atmosphere, we completed the desert set with an array of themed props – and of course a few cactai!

Gromit Unleashed will be at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway until Sunday 3rd January,  so we’ll be sure to visit Gromit and co. once Bristol’s lockdown has been lifted!
