The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Enlivening literacy, exploring nature and developing play in one colourful, interactive and immersive event, The Very Hungry Caterpillar trail is a proven hit with families.

An AR face filter at the start of the trail invites visitors to ‘become’ the caterpillar before embarking on a journey through the days of the Hungry Caterpillar story via a series of interactive 3D installations.

As the visitors climb and crawl through large scale versions of Eric Carle’s iconic illustrations, the scale of the installations change as the ‘caterpillar’ grows and the food becomes relatively smaller.

The installations are enticing standalone attractions. They also lend themselves perfectly to becoming the backdrop for theatrical engagement, storytelling and craft activities.

With lots of fun photo opportunities, interesting facts and physical challenges along the route, as well as a series of AR content accessed via smart phones – there is something for everyone!
